It may be possible for me to feel some kind of pity for 32 year old Dalawna Berran-Lett if her tragically foolish decision would have been the first time she did something so stupid.

But it's not. And instead of taking a previous close call to heart and vowing never to leave her three year old twin sons alone, she did it again and the result is the horrifying story that follows.

Berran-Lett left her young children alone at home so that she could track down her teenage daughter who she accused of stealing weed from her.

While gone, the twin boys attempted to cook something and started a fatal fire.

KDKA reports: Investigators say the fire began when the boys turned on the stove, igniting a grease fire that spread to the rest of the home.

According to the criminal complaint, that was not the first time Berran-Lett left the toddlers alone.

On another occasion, she left Ky‘Heir D. Arthur and Dy‘Heir Arthur for about 30 minutes to get rolling papers. When Berran-Lett returned, smoke was coming from the kitchen. The complaint says the boys had pulled a rack of ribs from a freezer and tried to cook them.

Berran-Lett is facing charges of two counts of involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of children.

TribLive reports: Investigators have said that Dy‘Heir — who died of burns and smoke inhalation — was found in the kitchen, and Ky‘Heir — who died of smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning — was found in a second-floor bedroom.
